Rigathi Gachagua Names Those Behind Limuru Funeral Chaos

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made bold claims about the recent violent disruption at a funeral in Limuru, pointing a direct finger at Member of Parliament John Kiragu.

In an interview with NTV Kenya, Gachagua presented a detailed narrative of what he believes was a premeditated attack.

The Evidence: “Not Rocket Science”

Gachagua’s primary piece of evidence stems from a striking observation about the incident. He stated emphatically,

Security Lapses at the Funeral

The former deputy president raised serious concerns about the security arrangements at the funeral. He had claimed that his security was withdrawn by the government. He pointed out several critical issues:

– The event, which reportedly had around 2,000 attendees, was conspicuously lacking in security personnel

– Criminals reportedly began arriving at the funeral as early as 8am

– The area chief was present during the event

– The police had been notified about potential disruptions in advance

Behind-the-Scenes Planning?

Gachagua alleged a potentially coordinated effort, claiming that the county security team – including the county commissioner, police commander, criminal investigation commander, and intelligence unit – had held a meeting at Tigoni Police Station the day before the funeral.

He suggested this meeting effectively gave attackers “a free hand” to carry out their plan.

The Moment of Chaos

The funeral descended into mayhem while former MP Peter Mwathi was speaking. The violent episode included, destruction of the VIP tent, chairs being thrown.

Also, vehicles belonging to Gachagua and other MPs were stoned and the deceased’s family was forced to quickly remove the body.

Protection Request and Failure

In a further twist, Gachagua claimed that the deceased’s family had specifically requested four police officers for protection.

However, he alleged that when these officers arrived, they were in civilian clothes and failed to intervene during the attack.

By providing such detailed accusations, Gachagua is essentially challenging the local authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and explain the apparent security failures during the funeral.
