Ruto Switches Duale and Soipan’s Nominated Ministerial Positions

Kenyan President William Ruto has made unexpected changes to his recent nominations. The most notable shifts involve Soipan Tuya, who has been assigned the crucial role of Defence Cabinet Secretary, while Aden Duale, previously slated for this position, has been reassigned to head the Ministry of Environment.

These changes were officially communicated to Moses Wetangula, the Speaker of the National Assembly, through a formal directive from the President’s office.

The announcement came as Speaker Wetangula was in the process of presenting to the house the names of 11 cabinet secretary nominees that President Ruto had put forward as part of his restructured government.

Following standard procedure, these nominations have been forwarded to the Committee on Appointments. This committee now faces the task of thoroughly vetting each candidate and is expected to present a comprehensive report on the nominees within a 28-day timeframe.

It’s worth noting that President Ruto had initially unveiled these 11 cabinet nominees just last Friday, making these swift changes all the more surprising.

In response to his reassignment, Aden Duale expressed his gratitude to the President and his readiness to take on his new responsibilities.

He stated, “I look forward to serving in my new portfolio,” demonstrating a positive attitude towards the unexpected shift in his role.
