President Ruto Unveils New Cabinet: Kindiki, Duale, and Chirchir Return

Following weeks of protests, President William Ruto has unveiled his new cabinet lineup, nominating 11 individuals to key positions in the Kenyan government. 

The announcement, made on Friday at State House, comes after the president dismissed his entire cabinet on July 11, 2024.

Extensive Cross-Party Consultations

The President emphasized that these nominations were the result of extensive cross-party consultations, aimed at restoring peace and stability to the nation.

Notably, the new roster includes six former Cabinet Secretaries who have been reassigned to different ministries, with Prof. Kithure Kindiki being the sole nominee to retain his previous portfolio. 

The newly nominated Cabinet Secretaries and their respective ministries are as follows:

Mix of Experienced Politicians and Technocrats

This diverse lineup includes a mix of experienced politicians and technocrats, with several women appointed to key positions. 

Looking ahead, President Ruto announced plans to provide a comprehensive roadmap for the new Cabinet’s priorities.
