Meta Introduces Monetization for Kenyan Content Creators on Facebook

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has unveiled two new revenue-generating features for eligible content creators in Kenya: In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels.

These tools are designed to incentivize the production of original video content and foster community growth on the platform.

Moon Baz, who holds the position of Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey at Meta, emphasized the company’s dedication to nurturing creative talent:

Met has earlier delayed the rollout of Facebook Monetization in Kenya, citing the political developments following the finance bill protests.

The In-Stream Ads feature offers multiple placement options for advertisements within video content. These include:

The Facebook Ads on Reels feature allows for seamless integration of advertisements into original short-form video content. Creators can earn revenue based on the performance and engagement of their Reels while entertaining their audience.

To ensure accessibility, Meta has made these monetization features available in over 30 languages globally, including Swahili, which is widely spoken in Kenya and East Africa.

To be eligible for these monetization opportunities, creators must adhere to Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies.

They must also be at least 18 years old. For In-Stream Ads specifically, additional requirements include a minimum follower count of 5,000.
