The countries with the most lucrative financial incentives for Olympic gold medalists are Hong Kong and Singapore.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong has significantly increased the payout for its gold medalists, up 20% from the previous Olympics. Gold medalists will now receive 6 million Hong Kong dollars, which is equivalent to around $768,000 USD. Silver and bronze medalists will earn 3 million and 1.5 million Hong Kong dollars, respectively.

Singapore

Similarly, Singapore provides some of the highest rewards, offering $745,000 USD for a gold medal, $373,000 for silver, and $186,000 for bronze. These sizable cash prizes are aimed at motivating and rewarding the nation’s top athletes.

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) provides cash incentives to Team USA athletes through its “Operation Gold” program. These payouts have remained unchanged for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Under this program, American gold medalists will receive $37,500, silver medalists will earn $22,500, and bronze medalists will get $15,000.

While these figures are slightly lower than the medal bonuses offered by some other countries, the payouts are significant given the large number of medals typically won by Team USA. At the Tokyo Olympics, for example, American athletes took home 39 gold, 41 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
