Eight Candidates Shortlisted for Deputy Inspector General Positions

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has narrowed down the field of candidates for two crucial law enforcement positions: Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS) and Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS). 

NPSC Chief Executive Officer Peter Leley revealed the names of the shortlisted candidates, providing insight into the competitive nature of the selection process. For the DIG-KPS position, four individuals have made the cut:

The next phase of the selection process will involve rigorous interviews scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024. The Kenya School of Government’s Lower Kabete Campus in Nairobi will serve as the venue for these crucial assessments.

Interview Schedule:

The NPSC’s announcement sheds light on the considerable interest these positions have generated within the law enforcement community. 

A total of 38 individuals submitted applications for the two roles, with 21 vying for the DIG-KPS position and 13 for the DIG-APS role. 

Interestingly, four applicants – Paul Omondi Okinyi, Brian Wekesa Wanyonyi, Abdirashid Bilali, and Nicholas Mwiti – did not specify which position they were applying for.

In a move to ensure transparency and gather additional information, the NPSC has extended an invitation to the public. 

Citizens are encouraged to submit any relevant information about the candidates through written memoranda addressed to the Commission’s chairperson or via online channels. The deadline for these submissions is set for Monday, July 22, 2024, coinciding with the interview date.
