IEBC Manager Murder: Police Announce Key Development

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced a significant development in the investigation of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official Aisha Abubakar’s murder, with three suspects now in custody.

In a coordinated operation involving multiple law enforcement units, including the Operation Support Unit (OSU) and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, authorities successfully apprehended the suspects from various hideouts across the Coastal Region.

The DCI reports recovering crucial evidence linking the suspects to the crime, including phones that belonged to the victim’s son.

The tragic event occurred in the early hours of January 5, when armed intruders broke into Abubakar’s Utange residence.

The assailants:

  • Forcibly entered through the kitchen window at approximately 3 AM
  • Physically assaulted Abubakar’s son, rendering him unconscious
  • Fatally stabbed Aisha Abubakar despite her pleas for mercy
  • Stole various items including:
  • Two Samsung phones
  • An iPad
  • A 65-inch TV set
  • A sound system
  • ATM cards (after demanding PINs)
