Russia has established a military footprint across Africa by securing military-technical cooperation agreements with 33 nations on the continent.
This announcement came from Anton Kobyakov, a key advisor to the Russian president and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee. According to Kobyakov, Russia is positioning itself as a primary security provider for African nations, viewing this role as both strategically vital and practically necessary.
“For Russia, the role of a security provider for the countries of the African continent is a practical, vital necessity. To date, Russia has signed agreements on regular military-technical cooperation with 33 [states]…of the African continent,” he said.

Ministerial Conference
The announcement coincided with the inaugural Russia-Africa ministerial conference, marking a significant milestone in Russian-African relations. The conference, hosted in the Sirius federal territory, has drawn an unprecedented level of participation:
– 54 official delegations from African nations
– 45 African foreign ministers in attendance
– Total attendance exceeding 1,500 delegates
– Representation from various levels of government and diplomatic corps
“More than 1,500 people, including 54 official delegations and 45 foreign ministers of the African continent, are taking part in our conference, which is being held on the Sirius federal territory,” he said.
